The New Day become longest reigning Tag Team Champions in WWE History

new-day

The New Day, are officially the longest reigning WWE Tag Team Champions in history. The trio consisting of Big E, Xavier Woods & Kofi Kingston. Had held the titles for 477 days heading into Monday Night Raw, and knew that all they had to do was come out of Raw as with the titles to firstly equal and then beat Demolition’s record of 478 days.

No one said it was going to be easy, and they kicked off Raw by defending the titles in a triple threat tag team match, where they didn’t even have to be defeated to lose the belts. They faced off against the teams of  Sheamus & Cesaro and Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson in the opening match of the night, and came out of it with their titles, and record in tact. However, in their celebration afterwards they showered Raw Commissioner Stephanie McMahon with champagne, leading to them having to defend the titles again later the night against the team of Kevin Owens & Chris Jericho, then following a segment of ‘The Rollins Report’  Raw GM Mick Foley added another team to the match, With The former Shield members, Roman Reigns & Seth Rollins teaming up to attempt to win the titles.

Ultimately, it was The New Day who came out victorious, meaning that their reign would tick over to 478 days, equalling Demoliton’s record.

Due to their being no more Raw events. The group will OFFICIALLY become record holders on Wednesday 14th December.

Congratulations to The New Day on a great achievement! NEW.. DAY.. ROCKS.
