Conor McGregor makes history at UFC 205

It was already a history making event before the event had even taken place with Madison Square Garden being the host to the UFC for the first time in its history after years of back and forth in the early days of the sport.

The ‘Worlds most famous arena’ has seen a lot of amazing moments in sports and entertainment but this recent fear by the ‘Notorious’ one will go down as one of the most impressive. Conor McGregor defeated Eddie Alvarez in the second round of their ‘Champion vs Champion’ bout.

McGregor becomes the first fighter in UFC history to simultaneously hold two UFC World Championships after already being the Featherweight Champion and now also becoming the Lightweight Champion.
There was some controversy however, a moment that had clearly played out in the Irishmans mind for months was slightly delayed as officials scrambled to find both belts for McGregor to raise on both shoulders, something he had promised his fans.

When asked about the fight, the Notorious one said “Eddie is a warrior but he shouldn’t be in there with me. I am a different level. Now, I celebrate as champion of two divisions.” And also exclaimed that nobody was on his level when asked what was next for the double Champion.

UFC 202 Press Conference descends into chaos with McGregor & Diaz throwing objects across the room

Two of the most hot headed fighters in the world combined with a passion of hatred for each other have caused chaos at the UFC 202 press conference. After the Diaz camp were called “crack heads” by the Irishman, threats started to go McGregor’s way as he started to say “You’ll do nothing” which only riled rival Nate up more. Nate then walked around the conference room with two middle fingers held up at Conor. What came next was the usual smack talking we’ve come to expect at a UFC press conference these days, especially when it involves these two men. But what followed shortly wasn’t what we are used to seeing at these events at all. Nate Diaz then threw a bottle towards Conor McGregor who was sitting at the table, Conor then decided to get up and start hurling bottles back towards Nate. The crowd started to get louder as Conor was pleaded not to retaliate but he then started to grab anything he could to throw towards the Diaz team.

Things were heated the first time these two were getting ready to do battle in the octagon, which lead to a victory for Nate Diaz. The two square off again on Saturday August 20th.

Watch the bottle fight below, it kicks off around the 20 minute mark:

CM Punk announces first UFC opponent and fight date

Just hours after the internet was buzzing with rumours of another set back in the CM Punk UFC story, the man himself went on the UFC’s new podcast “UFC Unfiltered” and announced that he will be competing at UFC 203 on September 10th against Micky Gall. The event will take place in Cleveland, Ohio and is sure to be a big money draw for the MMA company.

Questions about the former pro wrestlers ability to transition into the world of MMA have been on the lips and minds of die hard and casual fans alike, but one thing for sure is that the buzz alone is worth the UFC‘s investment in the straight edge superstar. His opponent Micky Gall currently has a 2-0 record in the UFC, his debut fight in the company saw him defeat Mike Jackson in the first round via submission and is one of Dana White’s new projects after being discovered by the MMA giant. It has been reported that Gall had been offered the CM Punk fight if he could defeat Jackson and that’s ended up coming to fruition.

UFC 203 already includes two main events featuring Stipe Miocic facing up against the challenging Alistair Overeem and Fabricio Wedrum against Ben Rothwell.
