Sonny Moore rejoins From First To Last

The emo dream has finally become reality and the former screamo front man seems to have rejoined From First To Last.

Sonny Moore has been known more in recent years as Skrillex but 2017 has seen the former emo heartthrob go back to his roots. Moore recently released a new track with his former FFTL band mates and if that didn’t wet the appetites of fans then his first performance with the band in 10 years at “Emo Nite” in February.

The band seems to have fully welcomed their former singer back with open arms as their recent promo image includes Sonny Moore at the forefront and is currently their profile picture throughout social media.

Sonny has also recently uploaded videos of himself working on the new Incubus album and of Deftones vocalist Chino Moreno also contributing vocals to the album. it really seems that Sonny Moore is embracing his former style once again this year and we can not wait to see what the rest of the year has in store for From First To Last and the other projects he seems to be getting involved in.

If you thought the reasons to not miss Slam Dunk Festival 2017 weren’t already piling up then pay attention because it’s about to sway further in that direction. The Slam Dunk crew have announced that joining the already special line up of anniversary performances from Enter Shikari and debut Slam Dunk performances from Bowling For Soup are Essex rockers We Are The Ocean who have played the most Slam Dunk stages in history and will be playing them once more as some of their final ever shows, Deaf Havana have also been added to this years line up and will see their return to the Slam Dunk events for the first time in 4 years.

Frank Iero and the Patience will be performing this year alongside fellow debut ‘Slam Dunkers’  Arizona boys The Maine, Metalcore legends Stray From The Path and US Indie rockers Sorority Noise to really give a fresh mix up to this years extensive and board line up. These announcements come after the organisers recently let festival goers know that Zebrahead will be making their 4th appearance at Slam Dunk, this time on the Fireball UK stage and the huge news that emo legends Madina Lake will be returning to the UK for a reunion tour that includes all three Slam Dunk dates.

RETROspect: Fall Out Boy – “Infinity on High” (10 Years On)

It’s time to squeeze into your skinny jeans, sweep the fringe forward and smear on the guyliner (you know you did it guys) because it’s time to step back to 2007 and look at Infinity on High, Fall Out Boy’s third studio album which celebrates it’s 10 year anniversary on February 6th this year.

Upon release Infinity on High became a major success for the band worldwide becoming their first number one album in the US and debuting at number three here in the UK.  Having sold over 2 million copies, going platinum just over a month after it’s release and receiving positive reviews from critics it’s clear Infinity on High is the album that would launch Fall Out Boy onto the next level of their careers-until a poorly received fourth album, Folie a Deux, (although I would advise anyone to listen back to this album as I think it’s actually quite underrated) leading to a multi year hiatus would derail the group until their musical rebirth in 2013 with their 5th album, Save Rock and Roll followed by American Beauty/American Psycho in 2015.

What is as clear today as a decade ago is that the album is a clear step away from the group’s previous albums, the fact that Jay-Z is the first voice you hear on the album really sets this off and from there the remaining songs showcase more experimentation, either with use of instruments not heard on previous efforts or a switch from the standard ‘pop punk’ sound fans would’ve been used to hearing from the band at that point.

Kicking off with Thriller the album then proceeds to leap from one hit single to another with FOB classics such as This Ain’t a Scene,It’s an Arms Race and Thnks fr th Mmrs making their appearance on this album.

Whilst many of the songs on the album are an indication of FOB’s ability to write a catchy tune – you’d have to be quite picky to find a total dud on the album, it is frontman Patrick Stump’s vocal ability that shines through across each track as he became more confident and comfortable in the role beginning to showcase his true range and giving a glimpse of what was to come in the future.

The Fall Out Boy of 2017 has clearly evolved from the group that began way back in 2001 and this is the album, whilst remaining in touch with their trademark sound, where that evolution and transition from being considered ‘just another emo band’ to growing into the mature pop/rock sound FOB produce now began.

Having grown with the band as they matured it is now a blessing to be able to listen without having a fringe to straighten but that’s just me personally…

Infinity on High is the album that showcased just what Fall Out Boy are capable of and it still holds up as an intensely enjoyable, fun listen 10 years on.

From First To Last release first song with Sonny Moore aka Skrillex in 10 years

After months of speculation From First To Last have finally released a song with their former frontman for the first time since he left the band and went on to become one of the worlds most successful solo artists.

Sonny originally left the band in 2007 after throat surgery to focus on a solo career as a music producer and has since become a worldwide phenomenon as Skrillex, as his old band continued to make and release music and see several line up changes over the years.

The band now features Matt Good on lead vocals, Matt was the bands original vocalist and was a song writer and backing vocalist whilst Sonny was in the band during their heyday.

This new song “Make War” has been released on Sonny Moore’s 29th birthday, who c0-wrote, produced and sang vocals on the track which is out now and available on Apple Music.

Mark Hoppus also posted a picture with the caption “Studio Hangs” to his Instagram account with himself, Blink 182 bandmate Travis Barker, Producer John Feldmann, Sonny Moore and Matt Good of FFTL.

VIDEO: Life in 2006 – Backyard Wrestling

We got so tired of talking about 2016 that we decided to make a series on 2006 instead. I’m joined by my long time friends Justin and Terry talk about what life was like for us 10 years earlier as we react to videos of ourselves from 2006. In this episode we watch clips from when we were “Backyard Wrestlers” and talk about our lost agility, some of our questionable fashion decisions and plenty of funny memories about Backyard Wrestling and life in general.

Video allegedly shows Sonny Moore aka Skrillex recording with From First To Last in 2016

The day that Emos have been waiting for could finally be here. Sonny Moore, now more commonly known as Skrillex could be working on a track with his old band mates in From First To Last again.

A video posted online appears to show Sonny recording vocals for the band along with the bands resident screamer, Travis Ritcher. Founding FFTL member Matt Good previously stated that Sonny was interested in collaborating on the bands new record but their schedules were clashing too much. Matt also stated that the man known as Skrillex was one of the busiest people that he had ever met.

Sonny Moore left the band in 2007 after having vocal surgery and decided to put his creativity into more of a producer type role and became Skrillex selling millions of albums worldwide, winning numerous Grammy Awards and in the process becoming arguably the biggest face in the rise of Dubstep.

Rumours of Sonny rejoining the band began to fly around when earlier this year he played a track on his labels station on Beats 1 a song that sounded very familiar to the FFTL sound and even had vocals on from the former Emo icon. Skrillex dubbed the song “Bonus Track” and it was later removed from the internet, which obviously just meant that rumours about a link between Sonny’s old life and his new one were getting stronger.

Check out the video below and judge for yourself, is this Sonny Moore working with From First To Last again?

Bowling for Soup, Don Broco, Reel Big Fish and more announced for Slam Dunk Festival

The team behind Slam Dunk Festival seem to be pulling out all the stops with some big names being added to the line up thick and fast. After already confirming that Enter Shikari will be celebrating the 10th anniversary of their debut album ‘Take to the Skies‘ at this years multi venue event, the festival have now announced that legendary pop punk icons Bowling for Soup have been added to the bill for the first time in Slam Dunk history.

But it doesn’t stop there as organisers have also confirmed Don Broco with their only UK Festival appearance of the year whilst Less Than Jake and Reel Big Fish will be back on a Slam Dunk stage for the first time in 6 years. Cute Is What We Aim For and We The Kings are also part of this first wave of announcements.

Slam Dunk Festival 2017 will be a big one and is looking like it may even get bigger with future announcements expected in the new year. The festival will take place throughout May starting with the 27th in Birmingham at the NEC, 28th in Leeds at the First Direct Arena, and 29th in Hatfield at The Forum.

Ian Watkins’ twitter account is being used to promote new music

The former frontman of Lostprophets convicted for a string of serious child sex offences is currently serving a 29 year sentence, plus 6 years on license. The singers verified Twitter account however has recently shown activity that hints at new music from L’Amour La Morguem, which was the DJ side project that Ian Watkins began in 2009, three years before his arrest.

The first posts were Soundcloud “favourites” that tend to automatically update on social media outlets if a user has the option selected, but the latest tweet is the one that seems like a genuine attempt at promotion for new music as it is a “hype” styled 7 second audio clip with the caption “2017 2017 2017” in the tracks description.

It is currently unknown wether or not this is Ian Watkins using the website himself or if somebody is using it on his behalf or if somebody has simply just hacked his account, but the most recent post suggests that Ian Watkins’ side project will be releasing music in 2017.
