The Prodigy band mate says Keith Flint died by suicide

As news continues to come about about the sudden passing of Keith Flint we are saddened to hear that the singer had allegedly “took his own life” according to band mate Liam Howlett. It had originally been reported by Essex Police that the 49 year old’s death was not being treated as suspicious and fans expressed their sadness online as the band announced that the rumours that Keith had died were true via social media. A post that appears to have been made by Liam on their official Instagram account said “I can’t believe I’m saying this but our brother Keith took his own life over the weekend” and went on to express his hurt.

A spokesperson for the Police said “We were called to concerns for the welfare of a man at an address in Brook Hill, North End, just after 8.10am on Monday“, it is unknown who the person that raised the alarm was but it is believed that Keith’s wife Mayumi Kai was in Japan at the time of his death.

The Prodigy were still very much active and were scheduled to make upcoming festival appearances having released new music in November and were right in the thick of the promotion cycle for that album which adds to the shock for many fans. There seems to be somewhat of an epidemic in recent years of successful middle aged musicians taking their own lives whilst still in the thick of things with Chester Bennington committing suicide not long after Linkin Park had released new material and Chris Cornell taking his own life whilst on tour.

Our hearts go out to all those effected by this loss and we would encourage anyone dealing with the effects of suicide or mental health struggles to seek help from organisations such as Mind.
