Chris Cornell passes away suddenly on tour

The rock vocalist known for his time in legendary groups such as Soundgarden and Audioslave has passed away in what has been described as “sudden and unexpected” by his representative Brian Bumbery. Just hours earlier 52 year old Chris Cornell had been playing a full 20 song set with his band Soungarden at the Fox Theater in Detroit as part of a tour that was expected to continue throughout this month.

UPDATE: Police investigate as possible suicide.

Cornell started out with Soundgarden in the Seattle scene in 1984 before parting ways in 1997 and creating the “super group” Audioslave with former Rage Against The Machine members between 2002 and 2006. Soundgarden got back together in 2010 and released a new alum in 2012.

The singer also had a successful solo career, most notably providing the theme song for Casino Royale which was a Top 10 hit in the UK.

The family are working close with the medical examiner to determine the cause of death and have asked for privacy at this time.

Rebellious Noise would like to offer our thoughts and prayers to the loved ones of Chris Cornell at this difficult time, Rest in Peace.
