BREAKING NEWS: WrestleMania to feature first ever Women’s Main Event

STAMFORD, CT – March 25, 2019 – For the first time in WWE history, a women’s match will be the main event of WrestleMania as the Raw Women’s Championship Match featuring Ronda Rousey (c) vs. Charlotte Flair vs. Becky Lynch will take place on Sunday, April 7 in front of a capacity crowd at MetLife Stadium and streaming live on WWE Network around the world.

Ronda Rousey is the current Raw Women’s Champion, Olympic medalist, the first female UFC Champion, and the first woman to be inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame. She is also an actress and New York Times bestselling author. Charlotte Flair is a seven-time Champion in WWE, a former Division 1 volleyball player, philanthropist and author. She is the daughter of two-time WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair. Becky Lynch is the 2019 Women’s Royal Rumble winner, a two-time SmackDown Women’s Champion and was named Wrestler of the Year by both Sports Illustrated and CBS Sports in 2018. She was also the first woman ever to top ESPN’s WWE Power Rankings.

At WrestleMania 32 in 2016, WWE re-branded the Divas Division the Women’s Division and unveiled a new Women’s Championship title. Since that time, the women’s evolution has placed a greater spotlight on WWE’s female performers, including more prominent storylines and deeper character development that showcases their athleticism, charisma and star power.

Last October, WWE held it’s first-ever all-women’s pay-per-view event, Evolution, in front of a sold-crowd and millions more watching on WWE Network.

We are fortunate enough to be there in person to witness this monumental occasion first hand, and cannot wait.

WWE Tables Ladders & Chairs PREDICTIONS

WWE’s Tables, Ladders and Chairs this year comes from The SAP Center in San Jose, California, on 16th December 2018.

This will be WWE’s last PPV before the 2019 Royal Rumble, and will potentially be the start of the Road to WrestleMania.

WWE Intercontinental Championship

Seth Rollins (c) vs. Dean Ambrose

This match is not going to be for the faint of heart – I reckon that this will be one of the hardest hitting contests on the show, and with no stipulation specified as yet, there is still time that WWE will indeed add one between now and TLC. I can see an Ambrose win

Prediction: Dean Ambrose (New Intercontinental Champion)
Tables, Ladders and Chairs Match

Braun Strowman vs. Baron Corbin

If Braun Strowman wins then he will get a Universal Title match at Royal Rumble, and Baron Corbin will be stripped of all power on Raw.

If Corbin wins then he becomes the permanent General Manager of Raw.

This could in my opinion go one of a couple of ways. Either, Braun will be back for a very short match maybe hit one powerslam and pin Corbin, or we will see the debut of Lars Sullivan as Braun’s replacement, or indeed the return of Bray Wyatt. Either way I reckon Corbin is losing this match.

Prediction: Braun Strowman (Or his replacement)

WWE Championship

Daniel Bryan (c) vs. AJ Styles

This will be one for the ages, I just hope WWE give these guys enough time to just do exactly what they want. Give this a solid 30/45 Mins and let them wrestle! This will be one hell of a contest which I believe will be won by Daniel Bryan

Prediction: Daniel Bryan

Raw Women’s Championship

Ronda Rousey (c) vs. Nia Jax

So, this one is hard to call, considering all the rumours about the WrestleMania match, and will Rousey be in the Rumble etc. I can see this having no conclusive finish, or some kind of screwy finish which may even include the newly cleared Alexa Bliss. Ronda will leave as Champion, but may not necesarily do it via pinning or tapping Nia out.

Prediction: No Contest (Rousey leaves as Champ)

SmackDown Women’s Championship
Tables, Ladders & Chairs Match

Becky Lynch (c) vs. Charlotte Flair vs. Asuka

To be the Man, you’ve gotta beat The Man… And I believe that Asuka will do just that, she will climb the ladder, retrieve the championship. My belief is that Becky is over enough whether she has the championship or not, but I do think that she is entering, and ultimately winning, the Royal Rumble. Possibly leading to Charlotte facing Asuka for the title at Rumble and winning that, or we get the Charlotte vs. Asuka rematch at WrestleMania.

Prediction: Asuka (New Champ)

Drew McIntyre vs. Finn Balor

Depending on what version of Balor we get here will determine whether he wins or not. I can see McIntyre winning it comfortably, unless he faces the Demon. In which case, the match I believe, will swing in favour of Finn Balor.

Prediction: Drew McIntyre

Ladder Match (Guitar suspended above Ring)

Bobby Lashley vs. Elias

In this match there will be a guitar suspended above the ring, with the first competitor to climb the ladder and retrieve it being able to use it. I can see Elias coming out on top in this one.

Prediction: Elias

SmackDown Tag Team Championships

The Bar (C) vs. The New Day vs. The Uso’s

The staple of the SmackDown tag team division (arguably WWE’s entire Tag Division) for the past number of years, these three teams will square off in what has the potential to steal the show. It’s so hard to pick a winner, as there are Pros and Cons for all three teams. I will go with The Bar retaining

Prediction: The Bar

Tables Match

Natalya vs. Ruby Riott

A match that has been in the makings for a while, with the Riott Squad constantly attacking Nattie and even putting her through a table, and bringing out a table with a cutout of Nattie’s late father, Jim ‘The Anvil’ Neidhart on it. Logan and Morgan could well play a part in this match, and I can see Ruby getting the win to elevate her up the rankings in the Women’s division.

Prediction: Ruby Riott
WWE Cruiserweight Championship

Buddy Murphy (C) vs. Cedric Alexander

I can see a Buddy Murphy retention again here in a great showcase match for the 205 Live division.

Prediction: Buddy Murphy

Chairs Match

Randy Orton vs. Rey Mysterio

Randy’s complacency and his obsession with de-masking Rey could hinder his progress in this one, I can see the master of the 619 coming out on top in his home state and can see him doing some crazy spots with the chairs… Maybe a 619 with a chair? Who knows.

Prediction: Rey Mysterio

Mixed Match Challenge Final

Winning team become #30 in Men’s and Women’s Royal Rumble matches

Fabulous Truth (R-Truth & Carmella) vs. Mahalicia (Jinder Mahal & Alicia Fox)

The two teams I guess no one really fancied to do much in the Mixed Match challenge, this was really the only scenario which made sense as the other competitors are all in rather high profile matches and wouldn’t want to be pulling double duties. I can see this being a fun match with Truth and Carmella coming out on top to head into their respective Rumbles at number 30.

Prediction: Fabulous Truth

WWE Survivor Series REVIEW

WWE’s 32nd Annual Survivor Series PPV came from the famous Staples Center in Los Angeles – The event was marred with last minute changes as a result of Becky Lynch’s injury on last week’s Raw and Daniel Bryan defeating AJ Styles to become new WWE Champion on SmackDown.

Here are the Results of the show, along with my predictions and my match rating out of 5:

KICK OFF

Tag Team 10 on 10 Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Match

Team Raw: Roode & Gable (Captains), The Ascension, The B Team, The Revival & Lucha House Party

vs.

Team SmackDown: The Uso’s (Captains), The New Day, The Colon’s, The Good Brothers & SaNiTy

The kick off show featured this 10 on 10 tag team match and was won by sole survivors The Uso’s

Winners: Team SmackDown

My Prediction: Team SmackDown

Rating: 2.5/5

The Main show kicked off with the 5 on 5 Women’s match:

Side Note: During the kick off show a fight broke out between Natalya and Ruby Riott, leading to captain Alexa Bliss removing them both from the team and replacing them with Sasha Banks & Bayley. On the blue side, speculation was rife as to whom would replace Charlotte Flair, with some even speculating it could be Paige. It turned out it was Paige’s former Absolution team mate – Mandy Rose.

Women’s 5 on 5 Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Match

Team Raw: Mickie James, Nia Jax, Tamina, Bayley, Sasha Banks (Captain: Alexa Bliss)

vs.

Team SmackDown: Asuka, Carmella, Sonya Deville, Mandy Rose & Naomi

It was clear from the off that the crowd were pro SmackDown in this one, and due to the incident on Raw this past Monday, the crowd were insanely booing Nia Jax. This worked in Nia’s favour though as she went on to be the sole survivor in this match and pick up the W for team Red to make it 1-0 on the main show.

Winners: Team Raw

My Prediction: Team SmackDown

Match Rating: 2.5/5

Intercontinental Champion vs United States Champion

Seth Rollins (Intercontinental Champion) vs. Shinsuke Nakamura (United States Champion)

I had Nakamura to win this match due to some shenanigans from a certain lunatic, but luckily we were met with a great contest between two champions. Ultimately the IC champ overcame the US champ to put another victory into the column of Raw.

It was announced after that at TLCSeth Rollins would defend the Intercontinental Championship against Dean Ambrose

Winner: Seth Rollins

My Prediction: Nakamura

Match Rating: 3.5/5

Tag Champions vs Tag Champions

AOP w/ Drake Maverick (Raw Tag Team Champions) vs. The Bar w/ The Big Show (SmackDown Tag Team Champions)

Solid, decent, hard hitting contest between the WWEs Tag Team Champions. A certain ex WWE star decided to try and hijack the show from ringside, and this was a fairly underwhelming match in all honesty, until the last few minutes in which Drake Maverick broke up a pinfall and got choked on the apron by Big Show causing him to piss himeslf, this was enough to cause a distraction to The Bar, leading to AOP hitting their finisher for the win.

Winners: AOP

My Prediction: The Bar

Match Rating: 2/5

Cruiserweight Championship

Buddy Murphy (C) vs. Mustafa Ali

Yet another fantastic match between two cruiserweights, I’m glad this was given some time, and not just a two minute throwaway match, this was a decent contest and was won by Buddy Murphy.

Winner: Buddy Murphy

My Prediction: Buddy Murphy

Match Rating: 3/5

Men’s 5 on 5 Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Match

Team Raw: Braun Strowman, Dolph Ziggler, Finn Balor, Bobby Lashley & Drew McIntyre (Baron Corbin captain)

vs.

Team SmackDown: The Miz (capt.), Shane McMahon, Samoa Joe, Jeff Hardy & Rey Mysterio

The match ended with the three big men, Strowman, Lashley and McIntyre for Raw against Shane McMahon, but unfortunately for ‘The Best In The World,’ he could not overcome this huge obstacle and much like last year, Braun Strowman was standing tall.

Braun then got attacked from behind by Captain Baron Corbin, as Strowman now will have the opportunity to face Corbin and Lesnar on his terms.

Winners: Team Raw

My Prediction: Team Raw

Match Rating: 3/5

Ronda Rousey (Raw Women’s Champion) vs. Charlotte Flair

I predicted that this match would have some kind of screwy finish, possibly including Becky Lynch, but I don’t think anyone was prepared for what would ensue at the end of this match, and the nature of the victory, a fully fledged Charlotte Flair heel turn, where she absolutely anihilated Ronda with kendo sticks, chairs, steel steps etc. Ronda is one tough lady, but you have to say with Nia Jax next in line for a Women’s Title match, could Ronda’s days with the belt be numbered?

Winner: Ronda Rousey (Via DQ)

My Prediction: Charlotte

Match Rating: 4.5/5

Champion vs. Champion

Brock Lesnar (Universal Champion) vs. Daniel Bryan (WWE Champion)

This was originally scheduled to be the rematch between Lesnar and AJ Styles, and much to everyones surprise, Daniel Bryan defeated AJ Styles on SmackDown to become new WWE Champion, this match looked to be a forgone conclusion when Brock dominated early on; However, after senior official, Mike Chioda, got knocked down, Bryan hit a low blow to get some advantage back into his favour, and this got him back in the match and made you believe that he would again triumph in the David vs. Goliath scenario. However, this was not to be, and Brock ended up winning this match, with more of a challenge than I think he anticipated.

Winner: Brock Lesnar

My Prediction: Brock Lesnar

Match Rating: 4/5

Overall, I think that some of the results, and a clean sweep 6-0 victory for Raw was very stupidly booked, I thought the last two matches took this from being an okay show to a good show. Brock has had two of his best WWE matches at the last two Survivor Series PPV’s, and unsurprisingly really considering he faced AJ and Bryan, the lack of acknowledgment of SmackDown winning the Pre-Show match was silly, and as much as I was looking forward to Becky vs. RondaCharlotte did a fantastic job, and kudos to WWE for the booking of the last hour of this show.

Daniel Bryan OFFICIALLY Cleared to return

Finally, after two long years of medical evaluations, WWE‘s medical Director Dr. Joseph Maroon, has officially given the ‘YES, YES, YES’ to Daniel Bryan to return to in ring action.

The former WWE World, Intercontinental, United States and Tag Team Champion had seen numerous neurosurgeons, neurologists and concussion experts all who cleared him, but finally got the all clear today from Maroon. He was forced to retire in 2016 and took a job as Smackdown LIVE’s General Manager.

It was always Bryan’s goal to get back in the ring, and there was speculation he could end up in NJPW or Ring of Honor if WWE didn’t clear him by the time his contract expired, rumoured to be in September this year.

With WrestleMania just around the corner, what could this mean for Bryan?

There are some dream matches for Bryan we are surely looking forward to seeing, and how WWE incorporates him into the storylines will be interesting to see.

Wayne Rooney Finally Breaks The Record

Wayne Rooney is officially out on his own as Manchester United’s all time leading scorer after netting his 250th Goal, when he scored against Stoke City in the 1-1 draw today. He has officially overtaken the record of Sir Bobby Charlton (249 goals) which he equalled against Reading in the FA Cup on 7th January 2017.

Wayne Rooney burst onto the scene back in 2002, when he smashed in a goal against Arsenal’s David Seaman, just five days short of his 17th Birthday. To which Clive Tyldesley iconically quoted ‘Remember The Name… Wayne Rooney.’

After 13 years and 544 appearances playing for Manchester United, and just a few months after his 31st Birthday, Wayne Rooney has written his name again into Football history. He is Manchester United and England’s all time leading scorer, maybe now he has two records which had both stood for many years, he will finally get the respect he deserves and has definitely earned.

Congratulations to you, Wayne Rooney the leading goalscorer in Manchester United’s history!

WWE to make history at Hell In A Cell PPV

WWE are set to make history at Hell In A Cell in more ways than one… It was announced this morning by Mick Foley on Facebook that the first ever Women’s Hell in A Cell match featuring Hall of famer Ric Flair’s daughter, Charlotte and WWE Raw Women’s Champion, Sasha Banks, will not only take place at the PPV but will actually Main Event it!

Off the back of a monumentous episode of Raw, where we saw the return of Goldberg after 12 years, WWE Hall of Famer and Raw General Manager, Mick Foley posted the following on his Facebook page:

stephfoley

CHILLS

Forget for a moment about Stephanie McMahon’s jumping high-five or my awkward attempt to hug the #RAW Comissioner. The biggest moment of the night for us came when the #WWE cameras were off, and Stephanie and I just looked at the #HIACposter, realizing that for #WomensWrestling, history is upon us – as Sasha Banks and Charlotte will main event the #HIAC PPV. I am so happy for Sasha, for Charlotte, for all the women who paved the way, and all those who aspire to follow in their footsteps. It is no exaggeration to say that looking at that poster gave me chills…and they were multiplying.

For both Sasha and Charlotte this is huge, and a pinnacle for Women’s wrestling. Women in WWE have long been laughed at as nothing more than glorified models there to make up the numbers. But, nowadays these ladies are proving once and for all that they do have the talent to compete alongside the biggest male stars in their industry.

It is an accolade for both women which is so richly deserved, and we just hope that they are able to live up to the expectations placed upon their shoulders.

Hell In A Cell takes place on Sunday 30th October 2016, live on the WWE Network (which you can still purchase for only £9.99.)

Could MCR be making a comeback?

55432d60d7466c2be0d928cb70b02389-d6zkcrzCould it be time to dust off the skinny jeans, T-Shirts, black wristbands and studded belts and starting to grow back the old ‘Emo Fringe?’ Well… No one actually knows!

All we do know is that Emo Kings My Chemical Romance have today posted a cryptic tweet with the piano intro to ‘Welcome To The Black Parade’ followed by the date 09/23/16 …

No one knows what it’s about, but it coincides with the 10 year anniversary of the release of the Welcome To The Black Parade Album. There has been speculation all day as to whether it’s the band reforming, or whether it is something to do with the album.

Either Way (get it?) we’re looking forward to finding out on September 23rd

REVIEW: Tremonti – DUST

Dust_Cover_FINAL_5_inch_cropped

When I was privileged to be sent a copy of Dust, the new album from Tremonti to review I didn’t know what to expect. I’d heard bits and pieces of Tremonti at Download 2015, but hadn’t heard any of their studio stuff.

I must say, I was totally blown away with how much I love it!

The album flows so well, each song seemlessly falls into place perfectly.

I love the song Dust. This song for me sits perfectly between Once Dead and Betray Me. Throughout this song, I thought all the way along that a solo would be so unnecessary and would potentially ruin the song… How wrong I was! I was astonished with how brilliantly it worked.

In all honesty, I believe the transition all throughout the album works perfectly, the hard hitting opening track Last Mistake sets the stall out nicely, and leads perfectly into the rest of the album. I also love the way the album finishes with Unable To See, I can see this being one of those anthem songs that you stand in a group with friends and shout out at the top of your voice!

I was a huge fan of Creed growing up, a band which Mark Tremonti was guitarist for, and that influence has definitely shone through in this album.

The whole band have a fantastic sound going on. This album I can liken to a cross between Creed and Disturbed.

Mark Tremonti, Eric Friedman, Wolfgang Van Halen and Garrett Whitlock – RN Salutes You!!

I give this album a solid 9/10

Dust is Released on 29th April 2016 via Fret 12 Records

Track listing:

1. Last Mistake

2. The Cage

3. Once Dead

4. Dust

5. Betray Me

6. Tore My Heart Out

7. Catching Fire

8. Never Wrong

9. Rising Storm

10. Unable To See
