WWE announce two day tournament to crown first ever WWE UK Champion

The WWE have just taken their claim as the world leaders in sports entertainment to the next level by officially announcing in London that they will be holding a two day tournament in Blackpool at the historic Empress Ballroom to crown the first ever WWE United Kingdom Champion. Tickets are already on sale for the event that will take place on Saturday January 14 and Sunday January 15, 2017. We have to admit that this Championship title looks beautiful, it’s got the signature look from this era of the WWE but has a classic and very British feel to it as well with the crest on the centre plate.wweuktitle

Triple H was in attendance at The O2 in London to make this historic announcement as he continues to be the face of all things WWE as far as expansion and development. The 14x WWE Champion has played a major part in things such as the WWE Performance Center, the growth of NXT, the Cruiserweight Classic and consequently the birth of 205 Live.

hhhwweukThe WWE Executive Vice President of Talent, Live Events & Creative has also stated that “The tournament is the next step in our ongoing strategy to create localized content for our global WWE Network, develop another brand that engages our passionate fans, and add a new dimension to our on-going storylines.” in a statement released today.

Another man who has been a key figure in those ventures for the WWE has been Britain’s own William Regal, who was also in attendance introducing some of the names we are going to see in January on the WWE Network.

The tournament will feature 16 competitors over two days in a single elimination event and will feature talent from all four of the Home Nations and Ireland. The 16 men that hope to make history are Pete Dunne, Saxon Huxley, Trent Seven, Jack StarzWolfgangRoy Johnson, James DrakeJordan DevlinTyler BateSam Gradwell, Joseph ConnersTyson T. During the press Conference Regal also joked that the location of the two day event may have been so that he could “go home for a few days” to his beloved Blackpool. Another key announcement today was given to us by Senior Broadcaster Michael Cole, who introduced the world to the newest member of the WWE Broadcasting team Nigel McGuinness. The British legend spoke of his personal dream to some day work for the WWE, a passion that has been burning inside the man since he attended Summerslam in 1992 at the old Wembley Stadium.

Tickets for the historic event are now on sale at Ticketmaster and we reckon this is a weekend not worth missing if you are a die hard wrestling fan.
