Wayne Rooney Finally Breaks The Record

Wayne Rooney is officially out on his own as Manchester United’s all time leading scorer after netting his 250th Goal, when he scored against Stoke City in the 1-1 draw today. He has officially overtaken the record of Sir Bobby Charlton (249 goals) which he equalled against Reading in the FA Cup on 7th January 2017.

Wayne Rooney burst onto the scene back in 2002, when he smashed in a goal against Arsenal’s David Seaman, just five days short of his 17th Birthday. To which Clive Tyldesley iconically quoted ‘Remember The Name… Wayne Rooney.’

After 13 years and 544 appearances playing for Manchester United, and just a few months after his 31st Birthday, Wayne Rooney has written his name again into Football history. He is Manchester United and England’s all time leading scorer, maybe now he has two records which had both stood for many years, he will finally get the respect he deserves and has definitely earned.

Congratulations to you, Wayne Rooney the leading goalscorer in Manchester United’s history!
