CM Punk announces first UFC opponent and fight date

Just hours after the internet was buzzing with rumours of another set back in the CM Punk UFC story, the man himself went on the UFC’s new podcast “UFC Unfiltered” and announced that he will be competing at UFC 203 on September 10th against Micky Gall. The event will take place in Cleveland, Ohio and is sure to be a big money draw for the MMA company.

Questions about the former pro wrestlers ability to transition into the world of MMA have been on the lips and minds of die hard and casual fans alike, but one thing for sure is that the buzz alone is worth the UFC‘s investment in the straight edge superstar. His opponent Micky Gall currently has a 2-0 record in the UFC, his debut fight in the company saw him defeat Mike Jackson in the first round via submission and is one of Dana White’s new projects after being discovered by the MMA giant. It has been reported that Gall had been offered the CM Punk fight if he could defeat Jackson and that’s ended up coming to fruition.

UFC 203 already includes two main events featuring Stipe Miocic facing up against the challenging Alistair Overeem and Fabricio Wedrum against Ben Rothwell.
